+ I.T Programmer/ Software developer

Candidates for this post are expected to have a very good knowledge of PHP, MySQL database, Linux Operating System Server Administration and Apache. These are commonly referred to as the LAMP platform.

Essential skills: PHP programming, generate PDF documents with PHP, Java programming, generate graphs, Javascript, administer MySQL database and write SQL statements. An idea of JAPSER reports would be an advantage.

Background info: GFA moved its I.T. infrastructure onto what is termed the LAMP platform. That is, Linux O/S, Apache Web server, MySQL database and PHP programming language.

All our client PCs operate on Linux Ubuntu. This move into open-source technology has permitted the company to save millions in software licences. We have reinvested the savings made in other ways in the company, such as, profit-sharing with staff and staff performance bonus. Some of the money is also being used to purchase new equipments.

We have a partly developped web based insurance information system. We have plans to also move our accounting, human resource and asset tracking system onto a web platform too. GFA currently uses Egroupware to share documents and address books. Therefore, we need a competent reliable and experienced individual to continuously develop, manage and maintain our I.T infrastruture.
